Almost three weeks later, I'm happy with this setup and I've found myself handling email a lot more efficiently than I ever have. The whole setup took me an hour or two to tweak and get perfect. Other than that, messages re-appear in all my inboxes when Mailbox puts them there, I can manage and view my lists across OS X and iOS and they're perfectly in sync. Perhaps there's a way to use Airmail's todo options but I haven't quite figured that out yet. Items can now also be sent to the app's extension. When you add a Gmail account to Airmail, you can now view threaded conversations in Gmail accounts. The app has a new layout for the message composer, and now supports Fantastical 2. There are several enhancements in Airmail 2.1. It's not an ideal solution but it's one I'm willing to live with until I have a native Mailbox client for Mac. Airmail for Mac has hit version 2.1, bringing along several new and enhanced features.

If I'm in Airmail, I leave them in my inbox until I switch devices. Airmail, the third-party email app for Mac, has received a lot of new features and improvements with version 3.0, and the app is now more in line with its counterpart for iPhone and iPad, adding Smart Folders, VIP contacts and notifications, and 'send later' support for Gmail and Exchange accounts. For now my solution is to just deal with them on my iPhone or iPad when I can. My only annoyance with this setup is that I can't delegate items for later as easily in Airmail as I can in Mailbox. The last step is the most imperative and the one I paid the most attention to. Tweak folder mapping to match what Mailbox recommends for desktop clients. Once that was done, I tested my workflow to make sure things filed and behaved as I wanted. Making sure the Delete key archived mail while Command + Delete trashed messages.

But hopefully they'll be resolved soon, and the app can realize its full potential.I repeated these steps on both my iMac and my Macbook Air so both versions of Airmail looked the exact same. The reliability issues make it hard to depend on this program, which can negate a lot of the value. Bottom LineĪirmail for Mac is a nicely laid-out and feature-packed mail application that offers a lot, considering its $1.99 price tag. We could still find them by logging into the Web-based mail program they were sent to, but that was an extra hassle that makes Airmail much less reliable. Some bugs: During testing, we did encounter some difficulty with messages that would disappear for no discernible reason. There is the star, of course, but you can also choose from a variety of different colored flags, or mark certain messages unread, so you remember to go back to them later on. Message marking options: To help you stay organized, this app also includes a lot of handy marking tools to use on your messages.

The new update adds Smart Folders for enhanced message filtering and organization, VIP contacts, OS X notifications, and support for the 'send later' feature available to Gmail and. All you have to do is click the button that displays below any message containing an attachment, select the destination folder, and you're done. Airmail, the third party email client for Mac, has been updated to version 3, bringing some major new features to the popular application and a redesigned interface. Tools arranged across the top of the interface allow you to compose new messages, reply to existing ones, and more.ĭirect saving: One nice feature is the ability to save attachments directly to your computer. The middle column displays the contents of the selected category, and the far right panel holds the selected message body. The far left contains boxes and categories that you can use to sort your messages for easier retrieval later on. Nice interface: When you open this app, you'll see three main panels that make up the basic organizational structure of the program. You can receive, view, compose, and send messages, all through this program's intuitive interface.
